PCB based Hybrid Membrane Switch
PCB based membrane switches construction utilizes a PCB as the main structure/support, substrate with membrane switch on front of the PCB assembly and display on back side of the PCB.
PCB based membrane switch combines all other membrane switch technology in one device. PCB is a rigid support panel for the membrane overlays and supply the electrical pathways.
More complex membrane switch design utilizes a printed circuit board assemblies or polyimide flex circuits. Printed circuit board switches are utilize in situation where there are trace routing limitations with traditional membrane switches or the OEM customers would like to utilize the PCB as a rigid backer. That can also be populated with active and passive components, reducing the amount of materials and interconnects. PCB allows greater features, controls and flexibility in design.
